Wheatland Board establishes Water District No. 3 with unanimous support

NY WHEATLAND — Wheatland Town Board unanimously approves Water District No. 3 and authorizes grant application. Supervisor Jim Kirch and all four board members voted to adopt the order establishing the district, approve a bond resolution, and submit a WIAA grant application. Multiple residents testified during the public hearing about decades of water quality problems, high costs for softening systems, and appliance damage, with some families spending $1,200 to $1,300 annually on salt alone.
The district is subject to a permissive referendum, allowing residents to challenge the formation.
