Zoning Board approves variances for DeAngelis and Kohn properties

NY WHEATLAND — Wheatland Zoning Board of Appeals approves two property variances at single meeting. In a 3-1 vote with Robert Hatch abstaining, the board approved Angelo DeAngelis's use variance to subdivide and continue operating his masonry business at 8990 Union Street, where rezoning from R-P to AR-2 had rendered the business non-conforming; DeAngelis is separating an $800,000-plus residence from his business, valued over $1 million, to allow his son to inherit the business affordably. The board unanimously approved a second area variance for Sara and Doug Kohn to construct a 50-by-30-foot equipment storage building at 45 Blue Pond Manor with reduced front and side setbacks, subject to removal of existing accessory structures and a prohibition on future additions.
